Our Story

Named in memory of a teacher who believed in education.

Aashirbad Foundation was founded by Roshan Dhamala, who grew up in a remote village in Jyamrung, Dhading, without electricity, internet, motor roads, or access to a computer until high school. The foundation is named in memory of his late father, a village teacher who believed education was the greatest gift a child could receive.

Mission

To expand access to education, mentorship, and technology for young people in underserved communities in Nepal.

Why Aashirbad Exists

A blessing passed forward.

Aashirbad means "blessing." The foundation is named in memory of Roshan Dhamala's father, a schoolteacher who believed deeply in education. Roshan grew up in a remote village in Jyamrung, Dhading, without reliable electricity, internet, motor roads, or access to a computer until high school. He later built a career in data and technology. Growing up without those things stayed with him.

That experience shaped a simple belief: young people with talent deserve access to education, guidance, and technology earlier in life. In 2023, he started Aashirbad Foundation to build that support in Dhading, the district where he grew up.

Operating Model

Community-led, donor-verified.

We don’t decide who gets support from a desk in Texas. The people closest to each student start the process, and every step is checked before funds move.

  1. Identify

Schools and local leaders identify students who may need support.

  2. Verify

Our Nepal team meets with students and families to confirm the need.

  3. Review

The U.S. board reviews and approves program support.

  4. Follow up

Schools and our local team help track enrollment and progress.

Donors receive a term-end update showing where funds went. Registered U.S. 501(c)(3) (EIN: 93-4943678), founded in 2023. A volunteer-led organization with U.S.-based governance and local program coordination in Nepal. Our financials →
